BREAKING: Macon fired at Binghamton

Binghamton University Director of Athletics Patrick Elliott announced today that effective immediately Mark Macon will no longer be head coach of the men’s basketball program.

“Mark Macon led the program during an extremely difficult period,” said Elliott. “I appreciate and thank him for his efforts but after careful consideration, I have made the difficult decision to make a change in leadership. The decision comes after a thorough assessment of our current program and my expectations for the future.”

Elliott said a national search for a new head coach would begin shortly.

Macon, who just concluded his fourth season at Binghamton University, took over the head coaching position in 2009. He compiled a 24-68 record in his three seasons as head coach.
