Coming off a 21-win season and an NIT appearance, Bethune-Cookman has released head coach Clifford Reed. According to a statement released by the University, Reed was let go following "an internal administrative review." There is no word on his replacement or a time table for the search, but assistant Gravelle Craig will manage operations of the program in the interim.
Here’s the official statement:
According to the Daytona Beach News-Journal, Reed was fired for refusing to cooperate with a University investigation and insubordination. The News-Journal obtained the termination letter which read in part: "Please be advised that the University has decided not to offer you a new employment contract as head men’s basketball coach, and your employment as head men’s basketball coach is terminated effective immediately. This decision is based on your failure to cooperate and insubordination with respect to the University’s investigation into allegations against the University and its men’s basketball program."
