The University of Texas has fired head men’s basketball coach Chris Beard. AD Chris Del Conte released the following statement a few minutes ago:
Beard was suspended by UT back on December 12th following his arrest on a felony domestic family violence charge which stemmed incident involving his fiancée.
According to the AP, “Beard had five years left on a seven-year guaranteed contract that includes a provision he could be fired for cause if he was charged with a felony. The charge of assault by strangulation/suffocation family violence carries a possible prison sentence of two to 10 years if convicted.”
