BREAKING: UMass set to hire Winthrop’s Pat Kelsey

According to a tweet by CBSSports.com’s Jon Rothstein, UMass will hire Winthrop head Coach Pat Kelsey to replace recently fired Derek Kellogg.  Kelsey just wrapped up his fifth season at Winthrop where he compiled a 102-59 record, including a 26-7 mark this past season. This year’s team won the Big South, and advanced to the NCAA Tournament, where they lost to #4 Butler last week. Kelsey has also been an assistant coach at Xavier and Wake Forest. An official announcement is expected shortly.
