Ted Rawlings has been named the Men’s Basketball Operations Specialist (DOBO) at Brown in an announcement made by Brown head coach Mike Martin. Rawlings comes to Brown from the University of Pennsylvania and the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia.
"My staff and I are excited to have Ted join us in this new position," said Martin. "Ted was a student-manager for us when I was at Penn and did a lot for our program there. He’s had both coaching and operational experience in the time since and I know that he’ll be a great addition to our staff with his energy, knowledge, and passion for the game of basketball."
Rawlings served as an assistant coach for the basketball team at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia for the past two years. He assisted in leading the Devils to a 13-13 record — their best mark since 2004 — including a 10-7 ledger in conference play. The Devils finished third in the CACC South and picked up a win against East Stroudsburg, a Top 20 team. Before coaching at Philadelphia Sciences, Rawlings was an assistant with Haverford College’s men’s basketball team during the 2011-12 season.
Rawlings was also the Director of Lacrosse Operations at the University of Pennsylvania for both the men’s and women’s programs since 2011. He played a part in the success of these two programs, helping with daily practice planning, managing budgets, and assisting in alumni relations as well as a myriad of other vital duties.
Rawlings is a 2011 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, where he was a goalie for the lacrosse team and a two-year starter and All-CSFL defensive back for sprint football. He also volunteered as a student manager for the men’s basketball team as well as assisting the Director of Basketball Operations all four years.
As an undergraduate, Rawlings was a broadcaster for the Penn women’s basketball team on the Penn Sports Network, as well a sideline reporter for 88.5 WXPN in 2010-11. He also found time to intern at the Daily Local News and 950 ESPN Radio.
Rawlings graduated from Penn with a degree in English and received his Masters of Science in Sports Management from Drexel University in 2013.
