St. Andrews University Director of Athletics Glenn Batten announced Thursday that Andrew Brown has resigned his position as head men’s basketball coach at St. Andrews to pursue other opportunities.

Brown just finished up his third season as the men’s coach leading his team to nine wins in 2014-15 and the third straight year of improving their win total. The Knights finished 9-14 this past season falling in overtime to Montreat College in the first round of the conference tournament.

The team also went 6-12 in the Appalachian Athletic Conference, their most wins since 2011. The overall wins are the most at St. Andrews since 2011 when it had 11.

Brown took over a program that was in transition into the NAIA in 2012 and has continued to build it up by improving in wins each year. Brown finished with 16 wins in his three years at St. Andrews including beating the fourth place schools in the conference Reinhardt and Bryan, who each had winning records, as well this season.

Last season, Brown led the Knights to an upset win over defending conference champion Tennessee Wesleyan and a one point win over eventual conference champion Union College.

Brown also led the St. Andrews men to a winning home record this past year at 6-5. He then landed two players on the All-Academic team this past season while putting two on the all-conference second team as well. One of Brown’s guards also made the Champions of Character team as well.
