The Thomas College athletic department has announced the hiring of Jared Browne as an assistant men’s basketball coach for the 2017-18 season. Browne will join head coach Geoff Hensley for his fourth season at the helm of the Terriers.

Browne previously led the Winslow High School boy’s program to an 85-34 record from 2011-2017. During his tenure at Winslow, the Black Raiders won at least 10 games and made the postseason each year, including their first trip since 2003 to the 2015 Eastern Maine Finals.

Prior to his time at Winslow, Browne earned his first varsity head coaching job at Oak Hill High School from 2009-2011. At Oak Hill, he led the program to win the most games in 15 years at the school during the 2010 season.

“We are very excited to have Jared join our basketball program,” said Hensley. “Jared has had tremendous success in his coaching career and will definitely fit in well with Thomas Basketball. He is very familiar with the landscape of Maine high school and college basketball, plus, he has developed some great high school players who have gone on to have outstanding college basketball careers. Jared has a sincere passion for coaching basketball and is a phenomenal addition for our team.”

Over his high school coaching career, Browne earned Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Coach of the Year in 2010 and 2013. In 2013 and 2015, he was named Coach of the Year for the Maine Association of Basketball Coaches.

The Terriers are coming off a strong 2016-17 season as they fell just short of a NCAA Tournament appearance with a loss to Husson in the North Atlantic Conference Finals.
