Bryant named Assistant Basketball Coach at South Suburban College

South Suburban Head Men’s Basketball Coach John Pigatti announced the hiring of a new assistant basketball coach; Lamont Bryant. Bryant enters his first season as an assistant coach for the Bulldogs. Bryant comes to South Suburban after a legendary high school coaching career.

Bryant, whose overall coaching record is 229-56, has been the head coach at several high schools in Chicago, IL: Marshall, Whitney Young High School, and Hyde Park. His 2008 Marshall High School Team won the Illinois High School State Championship. He has won 7 Conference championships, 4 Regional, 3 Sectional, 2 Super Sectional Championships, while having his teams place 3rd twice at the state championship tournament. He has coached 10 NBA and professional basketball players including Patrick Beverley (LA Lakers), Kiefer Sykes (Indiana Pacers), Ronald Howard (Indiana Pacers). He also starred in a film documentary about Chicago High School Basketball titled: “HOOP REALITY”.

Bryant played and graduated from the University of Illinois-Chicago. He also played at Kennedy King CC. Bryant played prep ball at South Shore High School. While at South Shore he received All-Conference hoors. Bryant currently resides in Dolton, Il and has a son, Cameron.

The Bulldogs open the 2022- ‘23 campaign on Thursday November 3, 2022.
