Former Mansfield University and Messiah College assistant Will Cabrera has joined the Lebanon Valley men’s basketball coaching staff in the same position.
“We are extremely excited to have Will joining our staff,” said LVC head coach Brad McAlester. “He’s going to be a great addition to our program and will help us tremendously on the recruiting front. We’re very lucky to get him.”
Cabrera comes to Lebanon Valley with over seven years of coaching experience including a stint last season as head coach at Impact Preparatory in York, Pa. He’s also spent time at the college level, most recently as an assistant at Division II Mansfield for two seasons beginning in 2012. Prior to joining the Mountaineer staff, Cabrera spent three seasons as an assistant on the sidelines at Messiah, his alma mater. At both stops, he also served as recruiting coordinator.
“I am incredibly fortunate to join Coach McAlester’s staff,” said Cabrera. “I’ve known him for 12 years and have a ton of respect for him. I look forward to working with and learning from him. I’m proud to join LVC and be a part of the Dutchmen tradition.”
Before joining the Falcon coaching staff, Cabrera was the head coach at Hershey Christian and served as an assistant for the Bolivian national team. He’s also worked a number of basketball camps, most notably as a coach and counselor for Hoop Group Elite Camps every summer since 2009.
Cabrera was born in Paraguay and spent his early years growing up and playing basketball in Bolivia. He graduated from Messiah with a bachelor’s of science in human development and family education in 2006 and played three seasons for the Falcons after transferring from the NAIA’s College of Notre Dame in California. He currently resides in Carlisle, Pa.
