Cairn University is proud to announce Jason O’Connell as the 11th Head Men’s Basketball Coach in program history.
O’Connell a 2012 Lancaster Bible College graduate most recently served as a Men’s Basketball Graduate Assistant at NCAA Division I Eastern Kentucky University. This past year The Colonels won Ohio Valley Conference Postseason Tournament and advanced to the NCAA Division I National Tournament Second Round before falling to Kansas 80-69.

O’Connell’s primary duties at Eastern Kentucky were editing film, assisting with scouting reports, film exchange and coordinating travel plans, while working towards his second Master’s degree in the field of Recreation and Park Administration.

Prior to EKU he served as an assistant men’s basketball coach at Penn State-Harrisburg during the 2012-13 season. The Lions’ reached the North East Athletic Conference semifinals. O’Connell’s duties included head of recruiting, film exchange, creating scouting reports and on-floor coaching.
In 2013 he received his Master’s degree from California University of Pennsylvania in Exercise Science and Health Promotion: Sport Psychology
O’Connell has also served as a Head Basketball AAU Coach for Mid Penn Motion Basketball while also working summer camps for Duke, Kentucky and Penn State.
