Cal Assistant Basketball Coach on leave from program

The University of California Berkeley athletic department has released the following statement tonight:

California men’s basketball assistant coach Theo Robertson is on leave from the program. Director of Operations Keith Brown will serve as the program’s third assistant coach in the interim.

Robertson joined the Cal staff this past April after spending the past three years working in the NBA for the Los Angeles Lakers and Golden State Warriors.

A two-year captain and standout forward at Cal, Robertson played for the Bears from 2006-10. He was a key part of Cal’s 2010 Pac-10 championship team, earning team MVP honors after averaging 14.2 points per game. He finished his career as the school’s all-time three-point shooter, making 44.0 percent of his attempts beyond the arc, and ranks among Cal’s top 25 career scorers with 1,315 total points.

No further details on the leave were provided. More on this story as we hear it.
