Cal Poly Pomona head men’s basketball coach Greg Kamansky has announced the addition of Mason Holle as an assistant coach for the Broncos’ men’s basketball program.
Holle arrives at CPP after spending the past 10 seasons as an assistant coach at CCAA-rival Cal State LA, where he helped establish the Golden Eagles as one of the premier NCAA Division II programs in the West Region. Widely respected throughout the CCAA, Holle brings extensive experience in recruiting, player development, scouting, and program operations.
“We’re very fortunate to add someone with Mason’s experience in the CCAA,” Kamansky said. “He’s a well-known and highly respected coach on the West Coast who played an integral role in Cal State LA’s most successful team, helping the Golden Eagles earn the No. 1 seed in the NCAA West Regional. He brings outstanding experience, fresh ideas, and a proven track record of recruiting and developing talent. Mason will continue the tradition of exceptional assistant coaches who have helped move our program forward, and we’re excited to welcome him to Cal Poly Pomona.”
As Cal State LA’s lead recruiter, Holle played a key role in attracting and developing the talent that fueled the program’s resurgence. Holle was instrumental in Cal State LA’s historic 2023-24 campaign, when the Golden Eagles posted a program-record 24 victories, captured the program’s first CCAA Tournament championship, earned the No. 1 seed in the NCAA Division II West Regional, and hosted the regional tournament. The team concluded the season ranked No. 17 in the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Division II poll.
“Joining CPP is an opportunity to be part of one of the best athletic departments and men’s basketball programs in the country,” Holle said. “I’ve competed against the Broncos for nearly a decade and have always respected the culture and standard that exists here. I believe my experience in recruiting, player development, scouting, and day-to-day program operations has prepared me to contribute right away. I bring energy, a strong work ethic, and a team-first mindset. I know the CCAA well and will do whatever is needed to help the program and our student-athletes succeed.”
Before joining the collegiate ranks, Holle began his coaching career at La Cañada High School. He was a student-athlete at Birmingham-Southern College, where he earned his bachelor’s degree before completing a master’s degree in sociology from Cal State LA in 2021.
