Multiple sources are saying that the search at Cal State Northridge is down to five. They are believed to be:
• Reggie Theus – Head coach Los Angeles D-fenders (D-League). Former head coach New Mexico State and Sacramento Kings. Was the 9th overall pick in the 1978 NBA draft and spent 13 years in the league (scored 19,015 points). Went 41-23 in his two seasons at NMSU.
• Donny Daniels – Assistant coach Gonzaga. Has been on the Gonzaga staff for the past three seasons. Spent seven years as an assistant at UCLA before that. Was the head coach at his alma mater Cal St. Fullerton from 2000-2003.
• Phil Mathews – Assistant coach UCLA. Was the head coach at the University of San Francisco from 1995-2004 (139-123). He has also been an assistant at Nebraska and the head coach at an Bernardino Valley College (51-17 in two seasons).
• Scott Garson – Assistant coach UCLA. Has spent the past nine seasons at UCLA. Worked on Rick Majerus’ staff at Utah for four five years before joining the Bruins staff.
• Damaine Powell – Head coach Cal State Dominiguez Hills. Has been the head coach CSUDH for the past nine seasons (135-116). Went 152-60 in seven seasons as the head coach at Compton College. Played for George Raveling at USC.
