FIU men’s basketball head coach Jeremy Ballard announced the addition of Colin Campbell to his 2021-22 staff. Campbell will handle player development and serve as the team’s video coordinator.

“I am ecstatic at the hiring of Colin Campbell in our Video Coordinator/Player Development position,” Ballard said. “Colin did a phenomenal job as a graduate assistant for our team last season and brings extensive experience across all levels to our program.”

Campbell returns to FIU following a season as a graduate assistant with the program during the 2020-21 season. Prior to joining the Panther program, Campbell served as the owner of Hoop MIA LLC from 2015-2020, and was the head coach of the Miami Triple Threat travel team from 2018-20.

The Miami native also oversaw the Schoolhouse Preparatory boys basketball team as the squad’s head coach. During his tenure, Campbell coached the team to back-to-back district championships while posting a 40-20 record. The Miami Herald also named Campbell the 4A-2A Coach of the Year for the 2019-20 season.

“Colin excels in every aspect of coaching and is particularly exemplary with his basketball IQ, relationships with players and recruits, and his evaluation skills,” Ballard said. “Colin is born and raised in Miami-Dade and has both played and coached at a high level locally while building extensive, genuine relationships with everyone involved in the South Florida hoops scene. Colin has been a trusted confidante of our program for years and is a bona fide star in the coaching profession and I am grateful that he is a part of Panther Nation.”

As an assistant coach, Campbell made stops at Eastern University from 2016-18 and Paris Junior College from 2015-16. With both programs, Campbell assisted in practices, coordinated skill development, and identified prospects for the program based on the team’s needs.

“As a Miami native and with several family members as FIU graduates, this incredible opportunity is very meaningful,”  Campbell said. “Having the good fortune to work with Coach Ballard and this coaching staff is the chance of a lifetime. I cannot wait to get started!”

Campbell was a graduate from Manattanville College in 2015. He is also working towards his masters degree in hospitality and tourism management at FIU.
