Head men’s basketball coach Omar Wattad and the Lander men’s basketball team are pleased to announce that assistant coach Darius Carter will be named the Associate Head Coach.
“This promotion is one I would do a million times over. As a coach, there’s not much that Darius can’t do, and everything he takes on he handles excellently,” said coach Wattad. “In just one year, he’s been instrumental in helping build the program. His abilities along with his high character & vibrant personality help form a rising star in this business! I’m happy he’s by my side.”
Before coming to Greenwood, Carter worked with Southern Wesleyan and Northern Arizona. During his tenure with Southern Wesleyan, he facilitated recruiting, player development and opponent scouting while also acting as the head JV coach. While with Northern Arizona, Carter was the Recruiting Coordinator and Director of Scouting during his three years in Flagstaff, Ariz.
“I want to thank Coach Wattad for his belief in me and entrusting me with this role,” said coach Carter. “I am incredibly grateful to be at Lander and to work with this group of players, staff, and administration. It has been a privilege to be here at Lander thus far and it is an exciting time to be involved with this program and athletic department!”
