Cavaco named Head Basketball Coach at D3 Earlham College

The Earlham College athletic department is excited to welcome Isaiah Cavaco as the next Head Men’s Basketball Coach.

Cavaco emerged as the top option from a nationwide search following the completion of the 2024-25 season.

Cavaco has previously served as head men’s basketball coach at fellow NCAA DIII Oberlin College, where he led the Yeomen for 17 seasons. During his tenure, Oberlin recorded its best record, and first postseason win since 1992. In seven of his last nine seasons at Oberlin, Cavaco led the team to an NCAC Tournament berth. His 2020-21 squad came in one win shy of tying the school record for most wins in a season. The 2017-20 teams tallied the best three-year win total in Oberlin men’s basketball history, and garnered the most conference wins for the Yeomen in program history.

After his time at Oberlin, Cavaco briefly took over as the Head Men’s Basketball Coach at Terra State Community College, where he coached the Titans to a win against the No.7 ranked team in the country in his first game.

Cavaco has had 10 players move on to play for graduate or professional programs after graduation, and he has had 20 selections on the All-NCAC teams.
