Central Missouri adds Young as Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach

University of Central Missouri Mules basketball head coach Adam Bohac has named Antoine Young as an assistant coach.

“We are excited to announce the hiring of Antoine Young and welcome him and his wife Whitney to the University of Central Missouri and the Mules Basketball program,” Bohac said. “Coach Young has a servant’s heart which allows him to connect and build authentic relationships with the players and everyone he meets.  His tremendous success as a college player at Creighton University and his professional playing experience along with his past MIAA coaching and recruiting experience at Pitt State and Nebraska-Kearney will be a huge asset to our current and future players.  I am excited to work alongside Coach Young.”

Young is no stranger to the MIAA conference after spending the past six seasons with Nebraska-Kearney where he was elevated to interim head coach in 2023 after being an assistant coach for the Lopers. Prior to his time in Kearney, Young spent two seasons as an assistant coach at Pittsburg State under the direction of former Mules head coach Kim Anderson.

Antoine was the 2012 Missouri Valley Player of the Year for head coach Greg McDermott at Creighton University averaging 12 points, 4.5 assists, and two rebounds per contest during his senior season. After his successful career as a player for the Blue Jays, Young played with four professional teams including the Lions De Geneve (Swiss League), Manresa (Liga ACB – Spain), Zorg en Zekerheid Leiden (DBL – Dutch League), and Osos De Guadalajara (Mexican League).

Antoine graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Broadcasting & Marketing from Creighton University in 2012 and a master’s degree in Health, Human Performance & Recreation from Pittsburg State in 2018.
