Central Penn College Basketball Staff Update

The Central Penn College Men’s Basketball program has announced the hiring of Tramayne Hawthorne, Kenny Stone, and Wes Kirkland as assistant basketball coaches for the 2017-18 season.

Hawthorne (Drexel 2009) was 2000-point scorer, and State Champion at Steel-High before heading to Drexel University to extend his playing career. Hawthorne played for defensive guru Bruiser Flint. His previous coaching stops were Steel-High (Head Coach), Central Dauphin East, and Central Dauphin high schools. “I have known Tramayne for years, and his passion for the game has been amazing. He is respected member of the Central Pennsylvania basketball community,” said second-year Head Coach David Archer. Stone comes to Central Penn after helping lead his Penn State Harrisburg team to the NEAC regular season championship (2011).

Stone was a three-year player at PSU Harrisburg and captain his senior year. Stone played at the legendary Scotland School for Veterans’ Children (PA). Stone had been an Assistant Coach at Elizabethtown College the last three years under Bob Schlosser. Stone was recruited by Archer while he was an assistant coach at Penn State Harrisburg. “I have watched first-hand how hard Kenny has worked. I’m excited to bring someone with his passion and knowledge to Central Penn.”

Wes Kirkland (Central Penn 2014) returns home to Central Penn College where he was a part of teams that were nationally ranked, and helped lay the foundation for where the program is today. Central Penn College is coming off a 25-7 season which ended with a berth in the USCAA Final 4.
