Citadel basketball head coach Chuck Driesell announced the additions of assistant coach Quinton Farrell and director of basketball operations Matt Scherbenske to the Bulldogs’ staff.
Farrell joins Driesell’s staff after a five-year stint as an assistant coach at Presbyterian College. He was part of a Blue Hose staff that posted victories over Auburn, Wake Forest and Cincinnati over the course of the last two seasons.
Prior to joining the Blue Hose coaching staff, Farrell spent four seasons as the team’s point guard. Recognized as a solid defender throughout the course of his career, Farrell was instrumental in leading PC to the 2005-06 NCAA Division II South Atlantic Regional semifinals.
Scherbenske joins Driesell’s staff after spending last season at the University of California under former Citadel assistant coach Mike Montgomery. Scherbenske assumes the role of director of basketball operations after serving as the Golden Bears’ program intern.
Scherbenske was a walk-on basketball player at the University of Kentucky. He began his collegiate career at Oral Roberts, where he redshirted his freshman season. He later saw action in three games in the 2007-08 season for ORU including games against Liberty, Texas Southern and Florida International.
Scherbenske prepped his senior season in high school at Oak Hill Academy where he shot 47 percent from 3-point range and helped lead the Warriors to 40-1 record and the No. 2 national ranking.
