University of Charleston head men’s basketball coach Dwaine Osborne has added Collin Barth to his staff as an assistant coach heading into the 2018-19 Golden Eagle season.

“I am so excited to have Collin join the program.  He comes highly recommended and has experiences at both the NCAA DI and DII levels, along with time as an AAU coach” said coach Osborne.  “His work ethic and desire to be great will be a perfect fit for our Golden Eagle program.”

Barth spent the last two seasons on staff at the University of Detroit Mercy (NCAA DI) as a graduate assistant for the Titans.  In his second season of work for Mercy he served as the team’s video analyst

An acclaimed AAU coach at the national level, he has been a head coach with Team Work Basketball for the last five years posting over 150 wins and securing over 10 tournament titles. He has coached 36 players who have received athletic scholarships, including 19 at the Division I level. Eight more players are currently receiving scholarship offers in the class of 2017.

He guided his team to a No. 1 ranking in the state of Ohio in 2014 and a national ranking of No. 24 in 2013. His teams have also won such events as the Nike Cup Tournament in 2014 and the Adidas Invitational in 2015.

Barth also worked with The National Basketball Academy from 2011-2014 as a camp director, tournament site director, coach, trainer and video analyst. Part of his job included organizing and directing youth basketball camps for the Cleveland Cavaliers.

A four-year varsity letter-winner on the hard court in college, he started his collegiate career at Wheeling Jesuit before transferring and playing three seasons with Lake Erie College.  He was named Wheeling Jesuit’s Top Newcomer in 2012 after helping the team receive a NCAA Division II at-large big and a win in the first round of the men’s basketball tournament, the school’s first-ever NCAA Tournament victory.

At Lake Erie College, he appeared in 68 total games and was a two-time member of the All-GLIAC Academic Team.

Barth graduated from Lake Erie College in 2016 with a Bachelor of Science in Sports Management and Business Administration. He is in the process of completing a Master’s in Liberal Studies with a Concentration in Leadership from Detroit Mercy.
