Peter Thaus was named the Concordia University Chicago Athletics Coordinator of Academic Success and assistant men’s basketball coach in July of 2022.
Thaus comes to Concordia after finishing his Master’s degree in education learning and design at Vanderbilt University. Thaus will step into the Academic Success role to help aid student-athletes in many different facets of the academic world with a focus on retaining student-athletes. Thaus spent time as a tutor at the International Learning Center in Milwaukee, Wis. In 2016.
Most recently Thaus served as a Graduate Assistant Basketball Coach at Vanderbilt University. There he assisted in recruitment efforts in the program, through organizing student visits and obtaining transcripts across the country. He also helped to arrange team travel, and break down game film. He also actively participated in practice to help develop players develop their skillsets on the court.
Before his time at Vanderbilt, Thaus served as an assistant coach at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh from August 2019 to May 2021. There he was part of the coaching staff that led the Titans to the 2020 WIAC Tournament Championship. At Oshkosh, he also organized team meals, travel, and youth camps. He also supported the team by leading campus visits for recruits.
Thaus’s love for helping student-athletes began when he served as a Marquette University basketball team manager before earning a walk-on spot with the Golden Eagles. Thaus was part of an enthusiastic scout team that helped to improve the team as a whole.
Thaus was a Dean’s list student in college, earning his undergraduate degree in Information Technology from Marquette in 2016.
