Conor Dow Hired as Ithaca College Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach

Ithaca College men’s basketball first-year head coach Waleed Farid announced the hiring of Conor Dow as his assistant coach for the upcoming 2021-22 season. Dow’s first day at Ithaca is October 4.

Dow has coached at numerous levels of college and professional basketball over the years. Most recently, he was the interim head coach with the Saskatchewan Rattlers of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) in 2021. Dow began his appointment with the team as an assistant in April 2021 and was elevated to interim head coach in July. The Rattlers improved by nearly 10 points per game after the change in head coach.

“I’m thankful for the opportunity to join Coach Farid’s staff at Ithaca College,” said Dow. “Ithaca basketball has a first class history of success and I am grateful to be a part of the Bomber tradition. I look forward to assisting the student-athletes and the team in reaching their goals on and off the court.”

From 2018-20, Dow was an assistant coach and director of player development for the Texas Legends of the NBA G League. In this role, Dow worked with Cameron Payne, who would go on to play 60 games with the Phoenix Suns this past season and was a key contributor to the Suns’ run to the NBA Finals.

He also spent time with the Dallas Mavericks as a video intern and was appointed to player development from 2017-19.

“I’m excited to welcome Conor to the Bomber family,” said Farid. “He comes to us with a wealth of experience at many different levels of basketball. He is a hard-worker whose energy and passion for the game and for coaching really stood out in our search process. I look forward to working with Conor and seeing the positive impact he will have on our players, program, and the Ithaca College community.”

Before his time within the NBA realm, Dow was the director of basketball operations at Lafayette College from 2015-17.

A native of Needham, Mass. Dow earned his bachelor’s degree in economics from Clark University in 2015. Dow played in 48 games over his final two years with the program.
