James Cooper has joined the Cedarville University Yellow Jacket basketball coaching staff as an assistant coach.
He possesses a wide range of experience both as a player and an instructor at all levels of the game.
Cooper was one of the best to ever play at the College of Wooster while leading the Fighting Scots to a 105-17 record during his career from 2004-08.
He guided the school to four consecutive North Coast Athletic Conference titles and four trips to the NCAA Division III Tournament.
Cooper graduated as the school’s second all-time leading scorer with 2,307 points as one of just three players to total over 2,000 career points.
He also rates second all-time in career field goals made (753), three-point field goals made (241), and three-point percentage (.461).
The NCAC named him its Player of the Year twice and he was a three-time All-American – the only player in school history to earn those accolades.
Cooper was named to the NCAC All-Decade Team in 2014 and was inducted to the College of Wooster Hall of Fame in 2018.
He went on to play one year of professional basketball for Dortmund SVD 49ers in Germany in 2008.
Cooper resides in his hometown of Springfield, Ohio and has two boys ages five and three.
