Cooper Neimand joins Lander University men’s basketball coaching staff

Cooper Neimand has joined the Lander men’s basketball program as an assistant coach, head men’s basketball coach Steve Roberts announced Thursday.

Neimand joins the Bearcats following four seasons on the coaching staff at Wesleyan Christian Academy in High Point, N.C.. He replaces Jarred Jackson who left the program this summer to take a graduate assistant position at Texas Tech.

“I am truly blessed and thankful to join the men’s team here at Lander University,” said Neimand. “I am looking forward working under Coach Roberts and pushing our guys to get better on and off the court.”

During Neimand’s four seasons with Wesleyan Christian Academy, the Trojans played for three NCISAA state championships, winning the title in 2013-14, and compiled a 105-28 overall record. Prior to that, Niemand spent five years as a youth basketball coach, trainer and counselor.

Niemand graduated from High Point University with a bachelor’s degree in human relations in 2014. He played two seasons on the varsity basketball team at Blair High School in Silver Spring, Md.
