Couch To Retire From Long Beach State

Long Beach State Assistant Head Coach Vic Couch has announced his retirement, following an extended battle with illness. Couch was on medical leave during the 2013-14 campaign, and had held his position with The Beach since joining Dan Monson’s staff upon their arrival in 2007.

Couch ultimately spent 14 years as a part of Coach Monson’s staff, having spent seven years with Monson at the University of Minnesota before coming to Long Beach State along with Monson as his top assistant following the hiring of the head coach in 2007.

"I want to thank Vic for his hard work and loyalty the last 14 years," said head coach Dan Monson. "I will miss Vic’s basketball knowledge, wisdom and wit daily – but more important than that – I think I speak for the whole Long Beach State family as we pray for his health and happiness."

Long Beach State is hosting a postseason banquet in the Walter Pyramid on Tuesday, March 25 at 6 p.m.
