Crenshaw relieved of duties as Head Basketball Coach at IUPUI

IUPUI Director of Athletics Luke Bosso announced today (Mar. 6) that head men’s basketball coach Matt Crenshaw has been relieved of his duties, effective immediately.

“I want to thank Coach Crenshaw for his countless contributions to the IUPUI basketball program as a student-athlete, assistant coach and ultimately as head coach. These decisions are never easy and aren’t taken lightly, but we wish Matt nothing but the best going forward,” Bosso said.

Crenshaw joined the Jaguar program as a student-athlete in 2000 and remains IUPUI’s all-time leader in assists. He captained IUPUI’s NCAA Tournament team in 2003 and is one of three players in program history to have his jersey number retired. He later joined the IUPUI coaching staff in 2006 as an assistant before joining the Ball State coaching staff in 2018. He returned to IUPUI as head coach in April 2021. He exits with a 14-79 head coaching record with the IUPUI program.

The university will immediately launch a national search for the next IU Indianapolis head coach.
