I have now heard from multiple sources that D2 Alabama Huntsville intends to hire D3 Berry College’s Mick Hedgepeth as their new head men’s basketball coach.

Hedgepeth has been the head coach at Berry for the past two seasons, where he has gone 44-14 (.759). This past season, his team went 19-10 (16-1), captured the SAA tournament title, and advanced to the NCAA D3 Tournament.

Prior to his time with the Vikings, Hedgepeth served the Director of Men’s Basketball Operations at his alma mater Belmont. He also spent two seasons as the head coach at D3 University of the South 36-18 (.667), and served as an assistant at Williams College.

This move is expected to be made official early this week.
