D2 DIRT: Morehouse opens

Story: Adam Nelson (@HD_DirtKing)

Morehouse head basketball coach Doug Whittler and assistant coach Terrell Polk are no longer with the program. According to a report from HBCU Gameday, an email was sent to campus announcing their departure. Also, both coaches have been removed from the Morehouse Athletics website – associate head coach Bo Bivens and Special Assistant Douglas Augusta remain on the website however.

Whittler, a former first-team All-Conference player for Morehouse College, took over in the summer of 2021 following the passing of former head coach Grady Brewer. Whittler went 77-41 (.653) in his four seasons, and won at least 18 games each year (which included two campaigns of 20 or more wins). This past season, Whittler was selected as co-Head Coach for Team Al Attles in the 2025 HBCU All-Star Game.

Polk had served as the Assistant Coach & Recruiting Coordinator at Morehouse since 2023. Prior to that, he worked at a bunch of Michigan JUCO’s, including Wayne Community College, Macomb Community College and Oakland Community College.

It is not known at this time if there will be an official press release on these moves.
