Winston-Salem State has named Corey Thompson as their new head men’s basketball coach. The WSSU alum (’02) has most recently been the head coach at St. Pauls High School (NC). He also spent time as an assistant at CIAA foe Fayetteville State.
According to our sources, the other finalists for the position were; WSSU interim head coach Ricky Wilson, Norfolk State associate head coach Jamal Brown, Shaw assistant coach Wykevin Bazemore, and a west coast D2 head coach with NC ties.
An official statement is expected to be released later today.
