D2 Auburn University at Montgomery has announced that they have mutually agreed to part ways with men’s basketball head coach Michael Cheaney. The school released the following statement announcing the move:

After 11 seasons leading the Auburn University at Montgomery men’s basketball program, Head Coach Michael Cheaney and AUM have mutually agreed to part ways, effective immediately.

AUM appreciates Coach Cheaney’s 11 years of dedication, leadership, and service to the men’s basketball program and wishes him continued success in future endeavors.

Cheaney also extends gratitude to the university community, alumni, players, and staff for their support over the years and wishes the program continued success moving forward.

Cheaney went 121-179 (.403) during his 11 seasons at AUM. No official word yet on who will assume coaching duties for this season.
