Davis & Elkins College Men’s Basketball Head Coach Daniel Mondragon announced the addition of Teemu Tumanoff and Preston Boswell to his staff for the 2023-24 season. Both are former Mountain East Conference players who are beginning their coaching journey.
Tumanoff (D&E ’22) played three years under Coach Mondragon after he transferred from the University of Charleston. “Teemu was instrumental in the improvement of our culture and has always possessed leadership qualities along with a deep understanding of the game, I am excited about him joining our staff,” said Mondragon. “Our players will love having him back as a mentor and someone who will push them every day.” Teemu recently completed his master’s in sports management at SUNY Cortland. During his time at D&E, he participated in a total of 55 games, starting 21 of them and averaging 17 minutes per contest.
Boswell comes to D&E after spending one season as an assistant on Danny Sancomb’s staff at California University of Pennsylvania. Preston signed to play at then, Wheeling Jesuit under Sancomb, where he averaged 13 points as a freshman and 17 points per contest as a sophomore. Preston eventually transfered to West Liberty to play for Ben Howlett and averaged 11 points per game for the Hilltoppers. He finished his playing at California with Coach Sancomb and joined his staff upon graduation. “We are excited about Preston joining our staff,” said Mondragon. “As a former MEC standout who is familiar with the league and the region, and has played under two fantastic coaches, he will bring passion and a ton of knowledge that our guys will benefit from.”
