I have confirmed through multiple sources that D3 Whitman College (WA) will hire John Lamanna as their new head men’s basketball coach. Lamanna has spent the past five seasons at NAIA Ave Maria University (FL) where he has served as the head coach and Director of Athletics.

This past season, Lamanna led the Gyrenes to a 20-10 (13-5 TSC) record. It was their second straight season with at least 20 wins – they went 23-9 in 2018-19.

Prior to his arrival at Ave Maria, Lamanna spent four years as the head coach at Franciscan University (OH). He also spent time at the D1 level at both UC Davis and Loyola Marymount.

Lamanna will replace Eric Bridgeland who became the head coach at The University of Redlands (CA) back in mid-April.

An official announcement is expected later today.
