Lake Forest College Head Men’s Basketball Coach Ryan Davis announced this week that he will be leaving that position to join a staff at the NCAA Division I level.
Davis spent three seasons as the Foresters’ head coach after serving as an assistant with the team from 2015-21. He helped lead Lake Forest to the first NCAA Division III Tournament appearance in program history in 2019 and the team went 80-58 in Midwest Conference play and qualified for the MWC Tournament five times during his nine years on staff.
The 2023-24 Foresters won six of their last eight games and posted the third-highest scoring average in program history at 79.2 points per contest. Just one member of the team will be lost to graduation in May.
“We are very appreciative of everything Coach Davis has done for the Forester men’s basketball team, our department, and the campus community during his nine years at the College,” noted Director of Athletics Nicki Pieart. “Thanks to his efforts, the program is in a good place and poised for even more success in the future. We wish him nothing but the best as he continues his coaching career at the Division I level.”
“I have truly enjoyed my nine years at Lake Forest College,” began Davis. “It is a special place, and I am incredibly grateful to the administration for the trust and support they have shown in me. We have been able to attract student-athletes that are a pleasure to work with and thus have formed some tremendous bonds. While I am excited for the next chapter in my coaching career, I will certainly miss the people in The Forest.”
A national search for Lake Forest’s next head men’s basketball coach will begin immediately.
