Jeremy Reigle has resigned his position as Rockford University’s head men’s basketball coach effective immediately, RU Director of Athletics Jess Stanek announced.
“I am incredibly thankful for our time at Rockford University,” Coach Reigle stated. “I have been blessed to coach incredible young men that I will forever be indebted to. We have had great support from so many here, I am so thankful to all of the student-athletes that brought so much energy to Seaver and gave us a true home court advantage. While I will miss all of the great people at Rockford I am excited for the next step in our family’s journey.”
“I wish Jeremy and his family the best as he takes the next step in his career,” Stanek stated. “During his seven years here, he brought the men’s basketball program a conference championship while helping develop the student-athletes both on and off the court. He was a valued member of our athletic department and embodied everything we look for in a coach.”
Coach Reigle did an outstanding job during his seven years at the helm. He departs after a highly successful tenure, compiling a 91-75 overall record while leading the program to six consecutive appearances in the NACC Tournament, which is a program record. During his time at the helm, the Regents earned 11 NACC Player of the Week honors and produced 11 All-NACC selections, including six first-team honorees. The program also saw two All-Region selections, two Team of the Week recognitions, and the 2020-21 NACC South Division Player of the Year. Reigle additionally coached four 1,000-point scorers — including one surpassing 1,500 points — and developed four players who reached 500 career rebounds.
During the 2023-24 season, Rockford posted an 18-9 overall record, matching the program’s highest win total in 19 years. The Regents also recorded 11 conference victories, tying a school record, and closed the regular season on a seven-game winning streak — their longest in more than two decades.
The 2020-21 campaign also stands as one of the most successful in program history. Reigle was named NACC South Division Coach of the Year after guiding the Regents to their first-ever South Division regular season and tournament championships. Rockford won multiple NACC Tournament games for the first time and advanced to the conference championship game for the first time in program history, finishing with a program-best .750 conference winning percentage. Nationally, the Regents ranked among the top 30 in NCAA Division III in nine statistical categories, including seventh in assists per game (18.9), 11th in total assists (265), and 13th in field goal percentage (49.5%), highlighting the team’s balanced and efficient performance.
A national search to fill the position will begin immediately.
