Daily Dirt – 1/4/12

I hope everyone had a great New Year….now back to the grind. It’s early January – that means things will be heating up on HoopDirt soon! Here are a few things to start the new year….

It’s obviously VERY EARLY in the search at UNC-Greensboro, but a couple of names keep popping up. Former South Carolina and Wake Forest head coach Dave Odom is a Greensboro resident and according to someone down there, has been spotted at a few UNCG games. Not sure if he’d come out of retirement, but he would definitely bring name recognition to the gig. He has 405 wins in 22 seasons as a head coach. I’ve also heard NC State assistant coach Bobby Lutz’s name a few times. He was the head coach at UNC-Charlotte for 12 seasons (218 wins) and is in his first season at NC State.

I can confirm that former Wheelock College head coach John Preziosa has landed on his feet. He will be joining the staff at DIII Salem State College for the remainder of the season. He resigned at Wheelock last month. Preziosa is no stranger to Salem State – he was the associate head coach there from 2005-2007 under then head coach Sean Doherty (now an assistant at Quinnipiac).
