Daily Dirt – 10/11/11

Less than a week until practice starts – I am definitely fired up! Here are some things I’ve heard so far this morning….

I’ve heard from multiple sources that Hawaii head coach Gib Arnold will promote DBO Scott Fisher to the role of assistant coach. He would replace Walter Roese who left the program at the end of August to return to his native Brazil. Fisher spent close to 20 years as a player and head coach in Australia’s National Basketball League. He joined the Rainbow Warrior’s staff last season. Also, Hawaii has just advertized for the DBO spot (http://hoopdirt.com/job/674fb114/director-of-operations-univ…) leading to more speculation that Fisher has been bumped up.

It sounds like Thomas More College (KY) assistant B.J. Aldridge has been hired at Florida Southern College as an assistant. Aldridge has also worked as an assistant at Ashland University, Georgetown (KY) and Rockford College. He has also spent time as a HS coach in Kentucky.

West Virginia Wesleyan has added two assistants to the staff. Jimmy Boone (son of head coach Jim Boone) comes to Wesleyan after serving a year at Tusculum College under Boone as a student-assistant, and four years as a TC player. Also, Ryan Sharbaugh has been hired as Wesleyan’s top assistant. He worked most recently at California University (PA) where he served as a graduate assistant for two seasons.
