Daily Dirt – 10/21/11

A few things as we head into the second weekend of practice….

From a top-notch source….Craig Doty has resigned at Central Wyoming College to join the staff at Riverland C.C. (MN) as an assistant coach. Doty spent the 2010-11 season as an assistant at Central Wyoming, and was elevated to the position of interim head coach during the spring after Jamie Stevens departed for Montana State Billings. Prior to Central Wyoming, Doty spent one season on the staff at Morningside College (IA) and a year as the Head Boys Basketball Coach at Akron-Westfield HS.

An update on Cal head coach Mike Montgomery….I reported yesterday that he will miss some time due to an unspecified procedure that he was to undergo. Apparently everything went well and Montgomery has begun the recovery process. He is expected to be on the sidelines for Cal’s exhibition opener in 11/1 vs. UC San Diego. Here’s the SF Chronicle’s article on Montgomery’s recovery: http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2011/10/21/…

Former NFL running back Leonard Henry has taken a HS job in North Carolina. He was recently approved as the head coach at Midway HS. Henry spent time with the Dolphins, Jets, and Raiders as well as the Frankfurt Galaxy from 2002-2005.
