A few things that I’ve heard…
- Chris Jans, who was fired as the head coach at Bowling Green this past spring, will work as a “consultant” to Gregg Marshall at Wichita State. Jans had worked for Marshall for seven years before taking over at Bowling Green in 2014. In this new role, he is allowed to observe practice and film, but is not allowed to coach or communicate with student-athletes regarding basketball related activities. NCAA rules also prohibit him from recruiting or talking with coaches during practices or games. Jans will be working on a 45-day renewable contract, which is worth $10,000.
- It sounds like Greg Bean and Daniel Jones have been hired as assistant coaches at DIII Medaille College (NY). Bean was most recently the head coach at Redbank Valley HS (PA). Jones comes from Hofstra where he was a graduate assistant.
- Staying in NY…I have heard that RPI assistant Matt Kelly has departed, and former Allegheny head coach Jim Driggs has joined the staff. Kelly had been at RPI since 2011, and had also been an assistant at New England College. Driggs had spent the previous five seasons at Allegheny, and has also been an assistant at the University of Rochester and Eastern Connecticut.
