Daily Dirt – 11/7/12

Catching up on a bunch of things as we prepare to tip-off our season this weekend…

• Kevin Easley has been hired as an assistant at UNC-Asheville. He had been an assistant at High Point from 2009-2011 and was working in private business last year. He has also worked at UNC-Greensboro and Tennessee-Martin.

• Not sure what’s going on at Detroit. Assistant coach Derek Thomas resigned last week (the same day that AD Keri Gaither resigned). Now, we are getting word that assistant Carlos Briggs may be out as well. The school is not commenting on the situation, so we’ll keep digging.

• I have heard that former Wyoming assistant Nate Dixon has been hired as the video coordinator at Charlotte. He replaces Brian Judski who departed to take a job in the private sector.

• Brad Rideout has been hired as an assistant at Shippensburg (PA). He has been an assistant at Messiah and Trevecca Nazarene. He has also spent time as a head coach and an assistant at the HS level.

• It sounds like former Boston University standout Corey Lowe has joined the staff at Lasell College (MA). Since his graduation in 2010, he has been playing professionally in Israel, Brazil, and Latvia. He scored 1815 points during his career at BU.

• I have heard that former NBA player Paul Grant is no longer on the staff at MIT. He played for the Jazz, Bucks, and Timberwolves during his career and had been at MIT since 2007.

• Frank Carmody has been added to the staff at Caldwell College (NJ). He was a volunteer assistant coach at Northwestern University last season (his brother is NU head coach Bill Carmody). He has been an assistant at Davis and Elkins College and Colgate, and also a HS assistant in Florida and NJ.

• Jonathan Blake has been named as an assistant at NYU-Poly. He had been a HS coach in North Carolina following his graduation from UNC.

• Emmanuel College (MA) assistant Albert Hayle has moved across town and joined the staff at UMass-Boston. He is a 2005 Emmanuel graduate who has been on the Saints staff since 2005. It appears that he has been replaced at Emmanuel by former Newbury College assistant Mark Holmes.
