A bunch of former NBA players in the news today….
Aaron Williams, a 14-year NBA vet, has been added to the staff at Xavier. He will be listed as a "temporary assistant coach" while assistant coach Kareem Richardson continues his recovery after recent surgery that was related to a collapsed lung. Richardson hopes to be back on the bench in late December. Williams is a 1993 Xavier graduate and was a teammate of current Xavier head coach Chris Mack. During his NBA career, Williams played for Utah, Milwaukee, Denver, Vancouver, Seattle, Washington, New Jersey, Toronto, New Orleans and the L.A. Clippers before retiring following the 2007-08 season.
Two former first round picks have joined the staff at Christ The King HS (NY). Erick Barkley and Khalid Reeves, both CTK graduates, will assist head coach Joe Arbitello this season. Barkley played at St. John’s and was the 28th pick in the 2000 NBA draft (Portland). Reeves was a standout at Arizona and was selected with the 12th pick in the 1994 draft (Miami).
1986 NBA slam dunk champ Spud Webb has an interesting new coaching gig. I just sent my resume to see if I can be his assistant….
