Daily Dirt – 2/28/12

Things are starting to heat up as March approaches. Here are a few things that I’ve heard so far today…..

Ole Miss Coordinator of Basketball Operations Robi Coker will depart the staff after the season to assume the role of head football coach at Crossville High School (AL). Coker’s hiring was officially approved by the school board late last week. He had spent five seasons in administrative roles on the Ole Miss staff. Coker is a Crossville alum.

There is an assistant position at Southern Connecticut posted in our jobs section. According to a good source, the posting is just a formality (something about state school policy, etc). Assistant Mike Makubika is the full-timer and unless something unexpected happens, will retain his job. Feel free to apply, but it sounds like it’s a done deal.

I’ve heard from a top-notch source that University of New England head coach Jason Mulligan intends to resign. Mulligan has a 62-71 in his five seasons at UNE including a league title in 2009. No word on when the official announcement will be made.

I am also in the process of confirming a DII job in Colorado that has apparently opened. More on this when I get another definitive confirmation, but the info I have sounds pretty legit.
