Daily Dirt – 3/19/12

I hope everyone had a great weekend watching the tourney games! How about the state of Ohio – 4 teams in the Sweet 16 – pretty nasty! Here are a few things that I heard while watching the 15’s beat the 2’s….

Keep an eye on the situation at Grambling. After a four win season, I have heard that there have been some internal discussions about how to proceed. It sounds like there will be an announcement sometime towards the middle of the week about the future of head coach Bobby Washington.

A “hot” name out there is Texas-Arlington head coach Scott Cross. After leading the Mavericks to a 24-win season and an NIT berth, I’ve heard his name come up surrounding the searches at SMU and Tulsa. I’ll have more on both of these searches as the week progresses.

DIII Bryn Athyn College (PA) won’t start play until 2013-14, but I’ve heard that they are close to naming their first-ever head coach. According to multiple sources, the leader for the job Justin Baxter. Baxter has been an assistant at the University of the Sciences (PA) and Neumann College (PA). The Bryn Athyn gig is full time.

HoopDirt will have an announcement tonight concerning the future of our empire. The official statement will be released on the site tonight at 7:00pm. Stay tuned…..
