Daily Dirt – 3/20/18

A bunch of quick things that I’ve heard…

  • Middle Tennessee State assistants Win Case and Ronnie Hamilton will be joining Kermit Davis at Ole Miss. No word yet on the third assistant or support staff.

  • Staying with MTSU…They have hired Parker to run their search.

  • I’ve heard that Collegiate Sports Associates has the Fresno State Search.

  • A few weeks ago, I mentioned Purdue assistant Steve Lutz at Incarnate Word (Daily Dirt 3/7). I’ve now also heard Virginia Tech’s associate head coach Steve Roccaforte, and Carroll College (MT) head coach Carson Cunningham mentioned here.

  • Interesting situation at East Carolina. Many believe that FGCU’s Joe Dooley is the guy here, but UMBC’s Ryan Odom is HOT right now. Will be curious to see if UMBC ponies up to pay him, or he bounces for a bigger payday.

  • The early HOT name at Florida Atlantic is Florida assistant Dusty May. New FAU AD Brian White is the brother of Gators head coach Mike White.

  • Obviously not a secret that URI’s Dan Hurley has spoken with UConn and Pitt. Very curious to see how this one plays out. He turned down Rutgers last season, but these situations are much different – the $$ is going to be tough to turn down.

  • I’ve heard that San Diego is considering retaining current interim head coach Sam Scholl. He took over after Lamont Smith resigned a few weeks ago and has led the Toreros into the quarterfinals of the Collegeinsider.com Tournament where they face Northern Colorado tomorrow.

  • Early name at Chicago State is South Suburban College head coach John Pigatti. He’s done nothing but win during his 12 seasons at the Chicago area JC, and is currently 28-5 after capturing another Region IV Championship.
