Daily Dirt – 3/28/11

On the road today – just have time to put up a few things. Mr. Dirt has done a great job keeping the site updated today while I’ve been gone. Here’s what I’ve got:

Florida Gulf Coast is down to three finalists, but they are being very tight-lipped about who they are. I can tell you that Belmont associate head coach Casey Alexander is not one of the finalists. I’ve heard that the final three is most likely Miami associate head coach Jorge Fernandez, Florida State assistant Andy Enfield, and Alabama associate head coach Dan Hipsher. Former Iowa head coach Todd Lickliter may still be involved as well, but I can’t confirm it. The job is scheduled to pay around $150,000 per season.

I’ve heard that Purdue’s Matt Painter will meet with officials from Missouri. Not sure if he’s just using this to drive up the price at Purdue or not.

Look for Dayton associate head coach Billy Schmidt to be a leader for the Dayton gig. With the departure of Brian Gregory to Georgia Tech, I’ve heard that he will be the front runner at UD.

Names are starting to fly surrounding the Missouri State job. I’ve heard that all three assistants are interested (Jon Harris, Kent Williams, and Steve Woodberry). Also, look for Southern Indiana head coach Rodney Watson, and former Oklahoma head coach Jeff Capel to get involved here.

Back to the grind…hopefully I’ll have more later in the day.
