Daily Dirt – 3/28/12

A few quick items this morning….

Minnesota assistant Ron Jirsa will interview for the vacant head spot at Northland College (WI). Jirsa spent six seasons as a DI head coach (Georgia, Marshall). He has also been an assistant at Dayton, Tulsa, and Georgia. He is believed to be one of three finalists, and will reportedly interview next week.

I’ve been saying all along that Jim Baron is the front runner for the Canisius gig. I still believe that, especially after I learned that he was officially interviewed on campus Sunday night and Monday of this week. He has been the only candidate to meet the players and be given a tour of the facilities. An announcement is expected here in about a week.

According to multiple reports, Oral Roberts head coach Scott Sutton has pulled out of the search at Tulsa. He either found out that he isn’t getting the job, or has his eyes set on something else. Definitely a situation to keep an eye on.

Former Dickinson College head coach Dennis Csensits has accepted the head job at Central Catholic High School (Allentown, PA). Csensits spent six seasons as the head coach at Dickinson. He also worked on DI staffs at Colgate, Navy, and The Citadel.

Speaking of guys taking HS jobs….former Butler standout Ronald Nored will become the head coach at Brownsburg (IN) HS. Nored, who will graduate in May, led Butler to Final Four appearances in 2010 and 2011. Welcome to the wild world of coaching – Coach Nored!
