A few things that I’ve heard so far today…
• The “hot” name at Texas Tech right now is Southern Miss head coach Donnie Tyndall. He just got knocked out of the NIT after a 27 win season. Multiple sources have told me that he is headed to Texas Tech today to interview.
• Speaking of guys interviewing today…I’ve heard that Robert Morris head coach Andy Toole is on campus at Siena today. Toole has won 68 games in his three seasons at RMU. There is also some talk however that Robert Morris is working on an extension for Toole. We’ll definitely keep an eye on this.
• Duke “Special Assistant” Nate James will be promoted to assistant coach once the season ends to replace Chris Collins (Northwestern). James is a 2001 Duke grad who has been on Coach K’s staff since 2007 in various roles. He played in 135 games at Duke with 63 starts. He scored 1,116 points, had 500 rebounds.
• I mentioned last night that Iona’s Tim Cluess is the “hot” name right now at Hofstra (http://hoopdirt.com/blog/21527e17/daily-dirt-ii-3-27-13/…). Another name that is starting to gain some momentum is Niagara’s Joe Mihalich. Apparently both he and Hofstra AD Jeff Hathaway are DeMatha (MD) guys who have known each other for some time. Mihalich has been at Niagara for the past 15 seasons (265 wins). There are definitely other names here, but these two are the most talked about right now.
