Daily Dirt 3/28 – The Evening Edition

Two quick things that I heard while out and about today…

It sounds like Vanderbilt assistant King Rice will be the choice at Monmouth. He has been spotted at a Long Branch, NJ hotel today, and is expected to meet with AD Marilyn McNeil tomorrow. McNeil is the head of the NCAA DI Women’s Tournament Selection Committee and is expected to be back on campus tomorrow. I’ve heard that he could be officially introduced by Wednesday.

I’ve gotten a lot of questions about the Kennesaw State job. I know that the search committee began sifting through names today for the first time. They want to narrow it down to four to eight candidates, and then to a final three. Part of the problem here is that Kennesaw is in the process of hiring a new AD as well. I’m not sure how much this will impact the MBB search. There has not been a lot of "dirt" out there on this one. I can tell you that I have heard that Greg Matta (the older brother of Ohio State head coach Thad Matta) is in the mix. He is the head coach at North Cobb Christian HS, and is a former assistant at KSU.
