Daily Dirt – 3/6/14

A few things that I’ve heard today…

• With the mid-major conference tournaments in full swing, rumors are starting to fly as teams get eliminated. I’m on double secret probation with this one, but all signs are pointing to a SoCon job opening. I have heard that there is a staff in that league who has already been told to stay off the road and refrain from using any other departmental funds. Where there’s smoke, there’s fire – I expect an official announcement here by 3/10. I’ll let you know when I can say more.

• An update on the situation at Mercy College (NY)…we reported a few days ago that head coach Adam Parmenter has resigned (http://hoopdirt.com/blog/793507f6/small-college-rumor/…). That has been confirmed, but now we know a few more specifics about the job. It sounds like it will remain a part-time job, paying around $10,000. There doesn’t appear to be any other opportunities at the college at this time, so the search will most likely yield someone who is local. With only 2.5 scholarships, this is definitely an opportunity for a grinder.

• Former Tennessee Chattanooga assistant David Conrady has been hired as the head coach at Chattanooga Christian School. He spent last season in the private sector, but served as an assistant for six seasons at UTC before that. Conrady has also served as the head coach at North Greenville University and Newberry College.
