Starting to get busy. A few quick hitters to start the week…
It sounds like Wisconsin Green Bay is in the process of early zoom interviews with about 15 candidates. Northwest Missouri’s Ben McCollum, and Northern State’s Saul Phillips are the most talked about (and most obvious). Working on more legit names, but questions surrounding this one – will GB be willing to hire a 3rd straight D2 coach, and will they get the money better (Will Ryan’s base was only $175).
The obvious hot early name at High Point is Tennessee associate head coach Justin Gainey. He’s a high Point native who played at NC State, and also worked at Marquette, Arizona, Santa Clara, App State, and Elon. More names as I hear them.
NC A&T’s Phillip Shumpert has served as the interim head coach all season, but NC A&T has now officially posted the job (HERE). I have heard that there will be an announcement this week that will shed some more light on the situation. A bunch of “older” coaches already lining up for this one. Stay tuned.
Kyle Bowlsby of Bowlsby Sports Advisors has the Idaho search. That search is now in full swing.
Keep an eye on the America East – I’ve heard from multiple sources that a change has been made, with the announcement coming either today or tomorrow. Not hard to figure out which one. More soon.
Hot name at D3 Cabrini College is NBA scout Pat Zipfel. The Cabrini alum has been a long-time NBA assistant/scout, but has also served as the head coach at D3 Centenary (NJ), and D2 Mansfield (PA).
The search at D2 Arkansas Fort Smith is underway. Every name that I have heard is a current D2 head coach. More here soon.
