Daily Dirt – 3/7/19

A few things that I’ve heard…

  • The search at Stetson is moving quickly. I have heard that they are already focused on a small group of candidates. One of the hot names down there is current Dayton assistant Donnie Jones. The long-time Billy Donovan assistant (at Marshall and Florida), also spent six seasons as the head coach at UCF. More on this search soon…
  • Cal Poly is not wasting any time in their search either. They made the announcement last night that Joe Callero would not return (even though he will coach the final two regular season games). Word comes today that they have already hired a search firm, and are moving at warp speed to get this done. I’ll have names here shortly.
  • Multiple sources have told me that Jason Curbison has resigned as the head basketball coach at DIII Rutgers Camden. He just wrapped up his ninth season at the school with a 51-172 over all record (2-23 in 2018-19). More on this one when it becomes official.
  • Long-time Iowa Central CC head coach Dennis Pilcher has retired. He had spent the past 40 years at Iowa Central, and wraps up his career with over 800 wins in his career. Long-time assistant coach Chad Helle will replace him. Helle had served on Pilcher’s staff for the past 17-seasons.
  • Waubonsee CC (IL) head coach Dave Heiss has been placed on administrative leave. No reason has been given for the suspension. He just wrapped up his 34th season at WCC.
